Observe vs. Infer

Agenda

Task 1: Finish Notebook setup:

Glue in the Table of Contents (TOC) and number the first 20 pages. We will Number EVERY PAGE! - front and back - the first page is the Title Page we did yesterday.

Task 2: Mystery Box Lab

Learning Goal (What will we know): I understand that scientists use their senses to make observations, and make inferences based on knowledge and observations.

Relevance (Why do we need to know this?): Observation and inference are essential skills for student scientists!

Success Criteria (What will we do to show that we have reached our learning goal?):

  • Work cooperatively with group.
  • Draw a detailed, labelled picture that explains your prediction about the inside of your mystery box.
  • Answer all the lab questions thoughtfully.
  • Write a reflection.
  • Be able to explain the difference between observation and inference, and give examples

Name Game (if we have time!)
